Everyone has their own fitness journey.

I encourage my clients to live their healthiest life but that looks different for everybody. Our circumstances and backgrounds aren't the same and therefore our fitness journeys are bound to be unique as well.

Life ebbs and flows and whether it's pregnancy, kids, work or sickness, your health and fitness routine will inevitably change to fit into your current situation. It can be hard to accept when things don't stay the same (especially our bodies!) but whatever 'healthy' means to you right now is exactly what it should mean; even if it's not what it was five years ago. There's no point looking back at old photos of yourself with sadness or trying to squeeze into the skinny jeans you bought in 2011 if you've had three kids since then.

You see when it comes to health and fitness, success isn't black and white. We define our own success by setting goals; no matter how big or small. For some it's completing an ultra marathon and for others it's making it to the gym twice a week but both are achievements in their own right. As we go through different stages of life, our definition of success will undoubtedly change and they'll be times to push towards bigger goals and times when we should pat ourselves on the back for getting off the couch and out the door. Success is personal to you and it should never be measured using someone else's ruler.

If you're unhappy in your body then maybe it's time to make some changes to your lifestyle but dwelling on the past or comparing yourself to the people around you will do nothing except make you feel like crap! So embrace your individual journey and make the best of your current situation because 'this too shall pass' and nothing is permanent.

Here's to a happy and healthy life, whatever that means to you right now.
